Sun Surf Japanese Quaint Design Yellow

Since 1977, Sun Surf has been dedicated to faithfully reproducing the finest Hawaiian shirts of the 1930s through 1950s. Each shirt is crafted in Japan to original designs, preserving the artistry, character and quality that defined the golden age of the aloha shirt.

This particular style is cut from an exceptional crepe rayon, a fabric prized for its distinctive texture, fluid drape and lively handle. The artwork is reproduced using Sun Surf's meticulous printing techniques, capturing not only the intricate details of the original design but also the spirit and atmosphere of the era from which it came.

The 'Japanese Quaint' pattern is based on an exceptionally rare shirt produced in the early 1950s by Liberty House, one of Hawaii's most historic department stores. Rich in colour and detail, it stands as a perfect example of the unique cross-cultural influences that made mid-century Hawaiian shirts so distinctive and enduringly collectible.
