Y'2 Leather TB-141 Steer Roughout 2nd Type Jean Jacket Camel
Y'2 Leather are based in Osaka, Japan, and have been in the leather jacket making game for close to fifty years. Specialising in horse, cow & deer hides, they make some exceptional jackets, all handmade in their Osaka studio.
Here we have the TB-141 from Y'2, their take on the unmistakable 507 xx, Type II Jacket, Levi's 2nd style of jacket introduced in 1953. Using a fine Steer Roughout for the body of the jacket, the leather is water-dyed in Japan and is finished naturally with drum dye providing an even distribution of colour, without hiding scratches or scuffs with dye. The flesh side is a full grain leather, making the jacket both soft and durable, weighing in at about 1.3mm.
Each jacket from Y'2 is stitched in their Osaka studio with great skill, using a fine stitch-count which is extremely hard to achieve on leather manufacturing. The TB-141 has been produced with the same sewing techniques as seen on vintage denim jackets to enhance the puckering through the seams creating wonderful, subtle areas of character that run through each garment.
The TB-141 features all details found in the Type II jacket. A button front with boxed pleats and two chest pockets with button flap pocket provide the classic look while a branded tag completes the look.
